Clarinetist Emil Khudyev '11MM was awarded the 2010 Gino B. Cioffi Memorial Prize. The award is one of a limited number of annual prizes given by the Tanglewood Music Center to its Fellows. The funds for these prizes have been donated by generous individuals or institutions, and in most cases have been designated as earmarked for certain instruments. Determinations as to the recipients of these awards are made following the summer by Tanglewood faculty and staff, based on criteria that include musical achievements, professionalism, and exceptional service during the course of the summer.

Mr. Khudyev has won numerous awards and competitions, including the Turkmen National Wind Competition, Presidential Scholarship winner, the Harvard Music Association in Boston, the International Yamaha Performing Artists in Chicago, the Lake Shore Competition, the Glenn Miller Scholarship Concerto Competition, and the Tuesday Music Club Competition in Akron, Ohio, among many others. Mr. Khudyev has played with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra and Mansfield Symphony, and currently holds position with Opera Naples Orchestra in Florida. He has attended the Tanglewood Music Festival, Colorado College Music Festival, and the Sarasota Music Festival.

In the summer of 2001 Emil won a full scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp. While there, he was offered a full scholarship to study at Interlochen Arts Academy, where he then studied for four years with Nathan Williams. In 2005 Emil began further studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music under Franklin Cohen. In 2006, he was selected to participate in the Carnegie Hall Workshop Young Artist Concert under the great conductor David Robertson.
